The Kospermindo team, together with the International Labour Organization (ILO), held an audience with the Regent of Takalar, a coastal regency in South Sulawesi, as part of preparations for a strategic visit and collaboration involving:
- the Ambassador of Switzerland and SECO, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs;
- the Vice Governor of South Sulawesi;
- OJK, Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority;
- Bappebti, the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency, and Kliring Berjangka Indonesia (KBI);
- and other stakeholders in the seaweed value chain.
Towards the e-Seaweed platform
The meeting is a step towards the launch and onboarding of e-Seaweed (@eseaweed_id), a platform designed to open access to price transparency, education and traceability for seaweed commodities in Indonesia.
Through cross-sector collaboration, the aim is a seaweed ecosystem that is:
- Transparent
- Based on data and information
- Educational
- Traceable from upstream to downstream
- Inclusive of every actor in the value chain
Why it matters to buyers and investors
Price transparency and traceability are two of the questions international buyers ask most often about Indonesian seaweed — see our guide to traceability in the seaweed supply chain. The involvement of financial and commodity regulators also links the platform to the wider infrastructure for trading and financing stored commodities, such as Indonesia’s Warehouse Receipt System, which Bappebti oversees.
